    MEET THEODETTA

I am Mukarutakirwa Theodette, I live in Byumba sector, Gicumbi district.

I passed through primary school well enough to continue my education. My first year in a school called EFA Nyagahanga, it is in Gatsibo district now. I did my first year in a very hard way, after this first year I realized I did not have the means to continue with school. I only have my mother, my dad past away. I was not able to go to my second year; I had to drop off for a long while. At the church they helped me and gave the means to pay my school fees which helped me to complete my O level section. Though it was not the whole school fees, there is a part which was covered by my mom; at my A level I did MCB (Math, Chemistry and Biology), they kept helping me at the diocese till my sixth year of secondary. They really helped me; of course there were some difficulties like getting some materials and transport to school, it was not easy, their hand made complete with an A level diploma in MCB.

Done with secondary school, I lacked for means to keep on with university, it is very hard to afford it on your own here. I also could not find a job. There came an opportunity for training hotel and Tourism skills. The Diocese helped me with this too and it was here that those trainings were. I was able to study and I completed with good notes at my certificate. I was even able to perform different internships during the training. Afterwards I started to get short time jobs at the diocese guest house, which help me buying things on my own.  And now I am working in the King Salomon school, where I prepare porridge for the students. This is the job I am doing now.

This helps me a lot to afford to buy some small things on my own. This is also a school for the Anglican church of Byumba Diocese; you can see that still helping me. Now I dream that I can get help to continue with my university studies, where I could build on the MCB knowledge I got or if not possible continue with the hotel and tourism studies. I would like to be a midwife.
